@666WBTA
A friend of mine studied management in the Lapland University (In Rovaniemi) and she was amazed. She said that it was perfect- very professional teachers and very friendly people.
I guess it depends on the university and the teacher

All education systems are a product of the culture within which they operate. The only way to have a system the same as Finland’s is to become Finland. Of course, good ideas can be borrowed. Requiring teachers to have master’s degrees is probably unimportant in itself – some of my worst teachers were the best qualified – but it does reflect the value given to teachers and education by society, and I’d say this value is probably the single most important factor.

They realize that everyone gets sick and needs to see a doctor sometime.

I can tell you one think is good in Finland education is free.
But the quality of education is not good. In university Finnish teachers are not professional. This is my experience studying in Finland for 5 years.

@somberlight well what I actually meant, wasn’t bad. And I’m not gonna comment back much right now, I’m just really tired and idk what the hell I might say anyways
January 26, 2012 at 5:38 am
@sienipulveri erm.. you might want to read between the lines, and specifically into the thing called “trolling”.
January 26, 2012 at 6:33 am
Ok, why does people hate Finland that much? After I did read comments. What makes you guys hate Finland? I would probably hate more people than a country. Country is a part of this earth, human is a part of its evolution that you should hate, not a country. If you hate a country, you hate a whole world. Just think about it

@bewere007 where in Finland did you actually live then? because that’s just how I think about us
January 26, 2012 at 8:00 am
I’m surprised so many other countries in the world do not adopt the same system. Oh well, their loss
Congratulations Finland !
January 26, 2012 at 8:30 am

I have mixed feelings about Unions, especially in America. I like a lot of the European collaborative models, but then again they’re not in America. Finland’s Teachers unions are an ideal that show how teachers unions should work. Nonetheless, Randi Weingarten is nothing but this manipulative deceiver, more concerned with her own comfort and union membership than with the kids themselves. I have yet heard her call for radical reform within the teacher unions. She’s using the Finns for publicity.
January 26, 2012 at 8:51 am
@MsJanetWood Why do I keep seeing you on these education reform videos? I’m sitting here putting a presentation together for my english class and your just everywhere ms. janet wood. By the way, if I were in charge of education reform, would you accept a large pay increase in exchange for having many more sit-in evaluations by principals and administrators so that they can give you feedback on your teaching methods? It’s one of my ideas but the teachers union is in the way.

January 26, 2012 at 9:23 am

Many of these schools that were shown in this bit were swedish schools in finland. Finland as many might not know has two official languages that are : Finnish and Swedish, thats why there are a “group” of people who are called the swedish talking finns.

@Mannerheimer Shaghai-China and then the rest? How about Harvard-USA, Helsinki-Finland, Oxford-UK, Stanton-US? Is it really impossible to make a difference between a country and a city???
